Frequently Asked Questions
Why the name EB's Naturals?
Well, EB is the initials of my name, and real, natural ingredients is all we use in our goodies. When I first married my husband, he began to use the phrase, my EB, as a term of endearment when I would do something silly. Over time it has become a nickname than has stuck and is still used. Now, it encompasses my hopes and dreams.
Is there lye in your soap?
Yes and no. All soap is made with lye (aka sodium hydroxide). It is an essential ingredient needed to make any soap. All soap begins with lye and oils or butters. To make soap, lye and oil must react together. We formulate our recipes to have more oils than lye. Therefore at the end of the curing process, no lye remains in the soap, which leaves the bar full of natural glycerin and nourishing elements from the oils and butters in the soap.
What is the difference between commercial soap and handmade soap?
Most of the soaps available in stores are mass produced detergents that contain synthetic ingredients and chemicals. Furthermore, the natural occurring glycerin is often removed from the soap and used as a by-product in other products. With the absence of the glycerin and the addition of chemicals many people often comment about how commercial soap leaves their skin tight and itchy. In handmade soap, the glycerin remains in the bar of soap to help your skin lock in moisture and maintain softness. We create our handmade soap with wholesome ingredients–moisturizing oils and butters, beneficial herbs and botanicals, and pure essentials oils. All of our handmade soap is made in small batches using the cold process method of soapmaking.
